On 23rd, 24th and 25th September, the city of Zaanstad in Holland hosted a series of 4 friendly games between the Men’s National Teams of Italy and The Netherlands. The weekend was used to promote the sport of Sitting Volleybal in Holland.
The event took place to coincide with the opening of the new TOP sportcentre where the CEV Volleyball European Qualification Championship Men took place. On Saturday, both teams had the opportunity to attend the match Holland – Belarus (M) in the TOP sportcentre de Koog .
Zaanstad has been hosting Sitting Volleyball national competitions since last year and this weekend, it was used as a training camp for both national teams as well as another sportcentre in Zaandam (where the local sitting volleybal club of Zaanstad trains).
All 4 games were won by the Netherlands but were very useful for both teams as it gave some new players from the Dutch a great opportunity to try out the National team and Italy men some practice against a strong side.
The weekend was financed through several sponsors (Nevobo, city of Zaanstad and Topsportorganisation).
The Dutch Paravolleyteam has already started preparing for the Sitting Volleyball World Championship which will take place in 2018 in Holland.
