New appointments for ParaVolley Europe

During the Strategy Dialogue Weekend and Extraordinary General Assembly, the ParaVolley Europe appointed two key members for the promotion and development of the ParaVolley disciplines.

Guido Pasciari (ITA) – PVE Marketing Director

The PVE board has agreed to nominate Guido Pasciari (ITA) as PVE Marketing Director.

Guido has been involved with sitting volleyball in Italy since he came across the sport by chance as he was accompanying his daughter to a coaching course which he also attended.

The Regional Committee of Campania then appointed him as sitting volleyball expert and he participated in some national meetings.  He was given the task of forming the first Italian women’s national team in 2015. The recruitment of the athletes, their stories, their way of living as a national athlete, gave him the motivation to develop the movement more and more.

After having been the national team coach, he was then elected in 2017 as federal board member exclusively responsible for sitting volleyball.

The consolidation of relations with the NPC (CIP: Comitato Italiano Paralimpico), with World Paravolley and with Paravolley Europe, the strengthening of technical programs, not only for athletes, but for coaches, referees, managers and classifiers, have been and will always be at the top of his agenda.

He has shown his motivation to be part of the ParaVolley movement ever since the new Board was elected and believes that the future of sitting-volley in Italy as in Europe resides with those who show us the beauty, the values and the inclusiveness of the sport.

Even thought his nomination and election will be confirmed at the next ParaVolley Europe General Assembly, he has already taken on his duties as of last weekend.

Ivan Cosić – Club Competitions Development officer

PVE Executive Board appoints Mr Ivan Ćosić (CRO) to be part of the PVE Sport Department to help with the creation of a Club Competition system proposal.

Ivan has been involved in sitting volleyball as a player with his native Croatia and is now captain of the National Team.

He was a basketball player before he got hit by a car aged 14 and had to have his leg amputated. The club IOK Zagreb heard about his injury and persuaded him to attend a training session. He enjoyed it but being so young having to deal with a life changing injury, he felt it was not the right time for him. The club did not give up on him until he finally joined them after finishing high school.  He has been playing since then in the Croatian National Team.

Ivan is now working for the club on a EU project for which funding was granted and his dream of combining passion and work came true. He is keen to engage people who love the sport and who are willing to give their best at it.

He is very happy that PVE has decided to revive a European Club competition. Since he has played in that system before (Euro league and Euro Cup) he knows the challenges ahead but also the things to be improved.
