Successful Men European Championship Qualification Tournament

The Qualification Tournament Men for the last two spots at the 2019 European Sitting Volleyball Championships took place last week in Porec (CRO) and was a success across all levels.

The event was organised jointly by ParaVolley Europe and OK Porec and welcomed 7 men’s teams who battled it out to qualify for the #EuroSittingVolley scheduled for July in Budapest (HUN).

The tournament saw newcomers Czech Republic, France and Slovenia represent their nations for the first time at an official ParaVolley tournament whilst Lithuania were back on the international scene after a 5 year hiatus.

Previous #EuroSittingVolley participants (Turkey, Italy and Georgia) completed the line up.

All throughout the competition, Turkey were by far the more dominant team as they only lost 3 sets in 6 games and did not concede one game. As a result of their hard work and training, they will now compete in Budapest for the 2nd time in a European Championship.

Lithuania were a late registration for this qualifying tournament and came back strong after their last appearance on the international scene at the 2014 World ParaVolley World Championships in Elblag (POL).

With now less than 5 months to go, the 2 newly qualified teams will be joining the others teams already qualified ( Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany, The Netherlands, Serbia, Poland and Latvia) in Budapest between 13th and 21st July to find out who will be crowned 2019 European Champion! #EuroSittingVolley
