ParaVolley EUROPE Sitting & Standing Volleyball in Europe
Between 27th and 29th July 2021, Slovenia’s capital will host the 2021 Lidl Slovenija Open Beach ParaVolley, which is the maiden international Beach ParaVolley tournament that will welcome 15 teams from nine different countries. The teams will compete in four different categories: Beach ParaVolley (Standing) and Sitting Beach Volleyball, both of them divided in two categories by gender. Although, Beach ParaVolley (Standing) in women’s category will be delivered only as a promotional match.
The competition, that will be an introduction to the traditional FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 1 Star Ljubljana tournament, will start on Tuesday, 27 July 2021, with Pool’s matches in Športni park Ludus Črnuče and will end on Thursday, 29th July 2021, with medal matches at the picturesque Pogačar Square in the true center of Ljubljana. One of the players competing at the tournament is Lena Gabršček, long-time member and a captain of the Slovenia’s ParaVolley national team. She is excited about the upcoming event: “None of us didn’t compete at the official Beach ParaVolley competition before, so this will be a whole new experience for us. We have prepared very well and even though we don’t have much information about our opponents, we are still very keen to participate at the event.”
The competition, co-hosted by ParaVolley Europe and the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia, is another milestone for Beach ParaVolley. That is also a reason why ParaVolley Europe’s President, Branko Mihorko is eagerly looking forward to the start: “Slovenia has a long tradition of Sitting Volleyball, Slovenian Volleyball players have achieved exceptional results at international competitions, and Slovenia has often hosted the largest ParaVolley events. We are convinced that the first international event in both, standing and sitting Beach ParaVolley so far, will be organized at the highest possible level. This is another and a very important step in the development of Beach ParaVolley and we can’t wait for the event to begin.”
