Champions Cup kicks off riveting 2023 season

Nine teams are on the line for the ultimate continental club title in European Sitting Volleyball as they gather in Germany’s historic city of Dresden to seek gold at the 2023 Men’s Champions Cup this weekend.

Legendary OKI Fantomi Sarajevo, reigning champions of Bosnia & Herzegovina, will be there to defend their title from last year as they aim for their 11th overall gold medal in the history of Europe’s top flight club competitions.

But they’re up against hosts Dresdner SC 1898, who won the right to organise this year’s event when they were crowned German champions (for the second time in their history) last year.

Hungary’s Mozdulj of Budapest, who picked up the bronze last year, as well as the hosts of 2022, Italy’s L’Abbondanza del Pane Nola, and Croatia’s IOK Zagreb are also returning in 2023.

The impressive lineup of national champions includes Kiyv Ukraine, IOK Borac of Serbia, KS Indra Kazmierz of Poland and Karaman Ozel Idare SC of Turkey.

The nine teams will be divided into three round-robin pools, with the top two of each pool advancing to the Playoffs. The winners of the Playoffs will form a new round-robin group on Sunday for the medals, with the losers playing out for positions 4-6. The third-ranked teams of the original pools will continue for positions 7-9.

All the action will be available in real time online through the dedicated website of the competition:
