Nottingham, UK, 21 May 2023 – Poland were on the brink of a disastrous ending to an otherwise brilliant run at the 2023 Sitting Volleyball Men’s European Silver Nations League, when they trailed in the final to Latvia – a set down and 15-22 behind in the second. Nothing was going right for the defending champions and the frustration led to ever increasing unforced errors.
But they made a miraculous recovery as they drew level at 23-23 in the second and were first to reach set point. They only needed two as Tomasz Labocha delivered a service that Latvia failed to return, and incredibly they were level – going on to take a quick and easy third and gaze at a downhill path to their second gold in a row.
