Euroleague to determine Club ‘Queens of Europe’

The top women’s clubs in Europe are gathering this weekend in Myslowice, Poland for their annual showdown to determine the Queens of Europe – as defending champions Robust Sempeter of Slovenia prepare to go head-to-head with Hungary’s Mozdulj Mozgaskorlatozottak Sportegyesulete of Budapest in a rematch of last year’s final at the same venue.

Robust completed a sweep of all their matches in straight sets last year, including hosts Para Volley Silesia of Poland and KSO Bosna Zenica of Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Robust Sempeter of Slovenia clash with Mozdulj Mozgaskorlatozottak Sportegyesulete of Budapest in last year’s Euroleague final – both sides are on a collision course to meet again in this year’s edition of the premier European women’s club competition.

This time around, however, they also need to contend with Italy’s Dream Volley of Pisa and Kyiv Ukraine if they are to successfully dfend their title.

The competition, which begins Friday afternoon on two courts, has all six participating teams play a single round-robin pool before the top two clash on Sunday in the final. Sunday’s schedule also includes a bronze medal match between the second- and third-ranked teams of pool play plus a fifth place playoff between the sides who finish 5th and 6th in the pool.
